Dr María Asunción Barreras is a tenured lecturer at the Humanities & Education Faculty of the University of La Rioja, Spain.
Throughout her career, she has taught English for scientific purposes, English literature, foreign language acquisition and learning, English language teaching and Semantics both for undergraduate and for graduate students. She has also taught PhD courses on literature for postgraduate students.
Her research activities include literature, acquisition and learning of a foreign language and pragmatics. Her current research focuses on the analysis of literature from the cognititive linguistic point of view.
She has presented papers at different national and international conferences and has published extensively on language learning, pragmatics and literature in collective volumes and in specialized journals (among them, Contextos Educativos, RESLA, Miscelanea. A Journal Of English and American Studies). She is also the author of four books on literature:
